Former Kaizer Chiefs Defender Morgan Gould Hails the Club's Latest Addition

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Morgan Gould has expressed his admiration for his former club's latest recruitment move, lauding the acquisition of Thembela ‘Tera’ Maliwa as Head of Scouting and Recruitment. Maliwa, a highly respected figure in South African football circles, joined Chiefs last month after an impressive seven-year stint at Mamelodi Sundowns.

Maliwa first made his name at the now-defunct Ajax Cape Town, where he was instrumental in scouting and developing young talent. He furthered his career with European giants Ajax Amsterdam and Heerenveen before returning to South Africa to work with Sundowns.

Maliwa is credited with discovering several talents, including Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rivaldo Coetzee, underscoring his eye for identifying potential.

Speaking to the media, Gould praised Chiefs’ decision to bring in Maliwa, stating that his expertise will bring immense value to the club. Gould expressed excitement about what Maliwa can contribute, particularly as Chiefs look to rejuvenate their squad with fresh ideas and talent.

“Definitely, it’s one of those big moves,” Gould told iDiski Times.

Gould believes that Chiefs, who are in need of rejuvenation after a few seasons of underperformance, have made a smart decision by hiring someone with Maliwa’s caliber.

He emphasized that Maliwa will bring new energy and a fresh approach to scouting and player recruitment at Naturena.

Maliwa’s appointment is seen as part of Chiefs’ broader restructuring efforts, as the club aims to compete more effectively both domestically and on the continental stage.

With his track record of scouting top talent, expectations are high that Maliwa will help identify the next generation of stars for
