Dr. Kaizer Motaung's Daughter Kemiso Sends Plea to Kaizer Chiefs Squad

A decade into an unprecedented trophy drought, Kaizer Chiefs are under mounting pressure to deliver silverware, a goal that is more important than ever to club Chairman Dr. Kaizer Motaung Sr., as expressed by his daughter, Kemiso Motaung. Chiefs, founded over 50 years ago by the iconic Motaung, are at a critical juncture after finishing the 2023/24 season in a disappointing 10th place – an all-time low for the Soweto giants.

With the arrival of Nasreddine Nabi and his North African-led technical team, optimism has returned to Naturena, along with a string of strong off-season signings aimed at fortifying the club’s roster.

Kemiso Motaung emphasized the urgency of a trophy, particularly with the Carling Knockout Cup on the horizon. “A win is something important. The Chairman has been looking for trophies for the past ten years, and it’s about time now,” she stated.

“We not only owe the Chairman but the supporters too. We have the right technical team and amazing staff. We have great players and facilities built by our Chairman, so there’s nothing else to do but succeed.”

Chiefs have demonstrated some early signs of improvement under Nabi, who has been vocal about the need for a winning mindset.

With support from assistants Khalil Ben Yousef, Majdi Safi, and newly appointed Cedric Kaze, Chiefs’ playing style has visibly evolved, bringing hope for a stronger season.

In their three league games so far, Chiefs have claimed two wins, including an impressive 4-0 victory over SuperSport United, although they suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kemiso Motaung expressed confidence in Nabi’s team, assembled by her brother Kaizer Motaung Jr., who has taken an active role in reshaping the club’s direction.

Chiefs’ recent 1-0 loss to SuperSport in the Betway Premiership was a setback, but they’ll look to regain momentum on Wednesday as they face newly promoted Magesi FC.

With a 19:30 kickoff at Loftus Versfeld, Amakhosi are determined to bounce back, aware that their Chairman, supporters, and legacy are all counting on a trophy-winning season.

The Carling Knockout Cup, along with their league campaign, represents a significant opportunity to end the drought and give Dr. Motaung Sr. the success he and the club have long awaited.
